Being in a relationship tends to change people in more way in one, at times we tend to do it for the better and other time’s people have to change according to the situation. But a lot of times people in relationships tend to change for the worse. Case in point, getting fat because they got too comfortable in a relationship.

We are not trying to be rude to anyone; it is just human nature. People tend to get too comfortable in long-term relationship or marriages. That is the reasons their relationships end up needing something to bring back the spice in their lives. This is the reality; we do tend to take people and relationships for granted at times. Having a bond with someone is beautiful, and it makes you feel same and warm inside, but at the same time, they tend to overdo it with the “being comfortable” part, not putting an effort just because they got engaged. Being with someone for that long can make it hard for things to stay fresh, you tend to feel like something is missing. Now that is a topic for another time as we are here just to discuss how or why people that are truly in love tend to get a bit on the extra chubby side of things.

There’s been plenty of research done on the subject, most of the research done has proved that once you and your partner are too comfortable with each other, you know sharing that special bond between themselves, there is a high tendency for the two individuals gain a couple of extra pounds. The study was led by the University of Queensland, Australia where around 6,459 individuals were used as subjects for the study. The duration of the research was around ten years. The study was conducted on women ranging from the age of 20 to 30 years old. All of them were either married or in a long-term relationship. The studies concluded that most of the women gained almost around five kg or 11 pounds. While this research was only done on women, other researches have been done on men and women as well. A study done by the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, the research was conducted on 169 couples for over four years, guess what this study had the same findings as the previous one. According to the findings guys in a happy, committed relationship also gained weight within those four years.

So, whether it be men or women, they both got a bit heavy. The studies were not able to pinpoint a specific reason, but it was concluded that people in love and in long-term relationships gained weight over time. Most of the credit to that increase in weight can be given to the whole being “too comfortable thing,” but not all is that easy. Most people experienced a rise in eating specific foods as a result of them getting into a relationship while others saw a change in their daily routine.
